ABOUT ADULT JAZZ & GROOVE DANCE

Everyone deserves a chance to dance in God's and Jesus' way beside their way. Adult Jazz & Groove Dance is a micro adult dance organization Joy Timmons founded in 2023. We offer dance classes for adult dancers aged 15 and up from all backgrounds. Our dancers also showcase their dance moves in front of a live audience in a fun, healthy, safe, supportive, and welcoming community worldwide. We envision dancers building confidence in their dancing, gaining valuable dance experience, expressing themselves through dance, and living their dreams wherever life takes them.

MEET THE STAFF

Joy Timmons-Dancer, Instructor & Founder

Joy Timmons thanks God and Jesus for letting her pursue a 40-year dance journey through performance, teaching, and the creative arts across industries worldwide. She trained in dance at organizations including the College of Southern Maryland and Towson University in Maryland. Joy also earned a master’s degree in business administration and education from Ashford University and a Dance Teacher Certification from the Dance & Gymnastics Organization.

Joy has performed with groups such as the Mt. Ennon Baptist Church Adult Dance Ministry, including Sunday Worship Services, and the Prince George’s Community College Flare Up Dance Team at events such as Bowie State University Talent Shows in Maryland. She has received dance awards, including 1st and 2nd place in hip hop and jazz performances at Accotink Academy Talent Shows in Virginia. She and Linda Natoli’s Senior Company teammates also won 2nd place in jazz at the King’s Dominion Dance Competition Festival.

Joy has taught hip hop, jazz, and other dance styles to dancers of various ages and skill levels at organizations including Little Busy Bee Early Learning Center, The Red Door Studio, and the YMCA. Today, Joy looks forward to continuing her passion for dancing and teaching adults through her dance organization, Adult Jazz & Groove Dance, while creating opportunities for dancers and her future family to enjoy dance worldwide.
