About Adult Jazz & Groove Dance

Adults deserve the opportunity to dance in God's and Jesus' style while expressing their own unique style. Adult Jazz & Groove Dance is a micro-dance organization established by Joy Timmons in 2023. Our organization offers a variety of dance classes for adult dancers aged 15 and up. Adult Dancers showcase their dance performances in front of a live audience in a fun, healthy, safe, supportive, and welcoming community anywhere. We provide opportunities to gain performance experience, build confidence, and pursue a lifelong passion for dance.

Meet the Staff

Joy Timmons-Instructor & Owner

Joy thanks God and Jesus for a 40-year dance journey. She trained in dance at the College of Southern Maryland and other organizations. She earned a master’s degree in business administration and education from Ashford University (The University of Arizona Global Campus). Joy received Dance Teacher Certification from the Dance & Gymnastics Organization.

She performed with the Mt. Ennon Baptist Church Adult Dance Ministry, including Sunday Worship Services. Joy performed with the Prince George's Community College Flare Up Dance Team, including at Bowie State University Talent Shows. Joy won 1st and 2nd Place in solo hip hop and jazz at the Accotink Academy Talent Shows. She also won 2nd Place in jazz with Linda Natoli's Senior Company Team at the Kings Dominion Dance Competition Festival.

Joy taught hip hop, jazz, and other dance styles at Little Busy Bee Learning Center, The Red Door Studio, and the YMCA. Her dancers perform all dance styles in showcases at these organizations. Joy teaches all-level adult dancers at Adult Jazz & Groove Dance. She prepares dancers to perform at events hosted by businesses in many states while balancing her dance career with time for her future family and loved ones.
